Mass Ave Mudroom is a community ceramics studio providing workspace for professional, hobby, and new artists to grow, collaborate, and create. We seek to make ceramic arts accessible to everyone from all backgrounds by fostering a welcoming, safe, and inspiring space for those seeking community and creative outlet.

The studio is conveniently located in the Factory Arts District building; a thriving artists community near downtown Indianapolis. We offer wheel-throwing and handbuilding classes, studio memberships and private events. The building hosts a popular First Friday event every month - stop by and say hi! We’d love to meet you.

Who we are

Our Team

Sarah Richcreek - owner, teacher

Sarah is an accomplished potter who started her career in production work in 2012.  She’s honed her craft by replicating tens of thousands of pots, making everything from early American ceramics to sleek modern wares.  The only thing she loves more than wheel throwing is teaching!  When she isn’t gardening or producing custom tableware, she teaches intermediate wheel, intro wheel, one-night classes, and private events. She is excited to share her expertise with you!

Kenn Schiltz - teacher, tech

Kenn (they/them) has been working with clay for four years, after a beginner ceramics class in college sparked their love for the medium. They have been teaching in Indianapolis for two years, and love to share their passion for ceramics. In their personal work, Kenn enjoys hand building and surface decoration. They love to nerd out about the technical aspects of ceramics, so feel free to ask your most niche questions! You can usually find them at a local art market or an antique store.

Rina Nguyen - teacher, tech

Rina is a multi-media artist based in Indianapolis, IN. She has a primary focus on clay and enjoys integrating a vast range of materials. As a recent graduate, she continues to hone her craft and share her knowledge as a Studio Technician and Instructor at various studios in the area. Rina is committed to growing her art career and advocating for a greater accessibility to the arts within her community.

Abby Jo Elle - tech

Abby (@abbyjoelle.art) is an Indianapolis based artist whose preferred medium is painted/sgraffito pottery. She has an educational background in pre-art therapy, painting, and psychology as well as 6+ years of clay studio tech work and care-giving. With clay as her canvas, using the sgraffito method of carving, she prioritizes this medium to help ground herself in a chronically online world. She aspires to cultivate a community, safe spaces to learn, and “joy” through shared interests.
